Revitalizing Bangkok: The “Food Culture Awakening Old Districts” Campaign

In an exciting development for food lovers and tourists alike, LINE MAN Wongnai has announced an ambitious campaign in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) titled “Food Culture Awakening Old Districts.” With an investment of 80 million THB, this initiative is set to breathe new life into Bangkok's historic neighborhoods—Song Wat, Talat Noi, and Nang Loeng—running from now until October 31, 2024.

A Collaborative Vision

The campaign is a fusion of culinary and cultural experiences, aiming to elevate these lesser-known districts to the status of more famous tourist spots like Yaowarat. According to Mr. Yod Chinsupakul, CEO of LINE MAN Wongnai, the collaboration seeks to stimulate the local economy by working closely with local restaurant operators. The goal is to create a vibrant atmosphere that marries food, arts, and culture, providing visitors with a holistic experience of Bangkok’s heritage.

Unique Experiences Await

At the heart of this campaign is the “Day-to-night Foodmaster Journey.” Visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in a variety of activities that highlight both the culinary and artistic richness of these districts. Notably, there’s the Cafe Art Collaboration with renowned artist Tum Ulit, who will showcase his unique perspective on the architecture of the old districts. Additionally, the light and digital art festival, “The Food Culture Journey by Awakening,” promises to transform these areas into enchanting spaces filled with creativity and innovation.

To further enhance the experience, LINE MAN Wongnai is offering discount codes for their ride-hailing service, ensuring that exploring these neighborhoods is both convenient and safe.

Engaging Events and Workshops

Throughout September, the campaign features an array of weekend workshops, where participants can engage in activities ranging from painting and kneading Chinese buns to creating upcycled keychains. These workshops not only serve as fun, hands-on experiences but also promote local artisans and culinary traditions.

Moreover, the excitement doesn’t stop there. Every Saturday in September, visitors can enjoy live performances from popular artists and celebrities, bringing an electric atmosphere to the streets. Acts include well-known personalities like Off Jumpol and Landokmai, as well as Winnie Thanawin and the band Scrubb, all performing from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Promoting Thai Cuisine Globally

The significance of this campaign extends beyond local revitalization. As Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, noted, this collaboration aims to promote Thai cuisine as a vital aspect of the country’s soft power on the global stage. By attracting both domestic and international tourists, the campaign hopes to showcase the rich and diverse food culture of Thailand while simultaneously uplifting the local economy.
