LINE MAN Partners with Bangkok and Chulalongkorn for a Lively Walking Street at Banthat Thong
LINE MAN has joined forces with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Chulalongkorn University Property Management Office (PMCU) to host the “Bangkok Car Free 2024” event, transforming Banthat Thong Road into a dynamic walking street. This initiative not only enhances the area’s appeal but also reinforces Bangkok's reputation as the number one food destination.
A Creative Community Space
The event took place on September 21-22, where rising stars
Thet – Myron and PP – Punpredee, known for their roles in the popular Duang Jai
Tewaprom drama series, explored the culinary delights of the Banthat Thong
area. This collaboration highlights the success of uniting the public sector,
private sector, and civil society to create an engaging prototype for public
spaces. By closing the road to vehicles, organizers aimed to promote a
pedestrian-friendly environment that encourages social interaction, creativity,
and community engagement.
LINE MAN’s Contributions
LINE MAN played a crucial role in the event's success by:
- Organizing
Rider Parking: Ensuring that delivery riders had designated spots made
it easier for them to navigate the bustling event.
- Artistic
Enhancements: The road was decorated with “น้องบูช,” an artwork
created by artist Tum Ulit in collaboration with LINE MAN, adding a
whimsical touch to the atmosphere.
- Celebrity
Engagement: By inviting well-known celebrities and artists to
participate, the event attracted more visitors and created a festive
environment.
- Discounts
and Promotions: LINE MAN supported the community by offering discounts
on food and travel via their app, encouraging attendees to explore local
eateries and food vendors.
On September 22, Mr. Yod Chinsuphakul, CEO of LINE MAN
Wongnai, along with his team and riders, participated in the festivities,
capturing moments with key figures including Mr. Sanon Wungsrangboon, Deputy
Governor of Bangkok, Assoc. Prof. Wisanu Sapsimpol, Deputy Governor of Bangkok,
and Prof. Dr. Wilert Phuriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University.
Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit of the event, highlighting
the importance of partnerships in urban development.
Promoting Sustainable Urban Living
The “Bangkok Car Free 2024” event aligns with global trends
towards sustainability and urban revitalization. By promoting car-free days,
Bangkok aims to reduce pollution, encourage walking and cycling, and foster a
sense of community. Such events provide a platform for local businesses and
artists to thrive, ultimately enhancing the city’s cultural fabric.
Moreover, the initiative invites citizens to reconsider
their transportation choices and embrace more sustainable practices. It serves
as a reminder of the importance of accessible public spaces that prioritize
people over vehicles, making cities more livable and enjoyable.
In conclusion, the collaboration between LINE MAN, BMA, and
Chulalongkorn University is a significant step towards creating a more vibrant,
pedestrian-friendly Bangkok. By hosting events like “Bangkok Car Free 2024,”
they demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the urban experience, showcasing the
rich culinary scene, and fostering community spirit. This partnership not only
enriches the local culture but also sets a positive example for other cities
aiming to create inclusive public spaces.
